I have spent three summers turning my back garden into a hedgehog-friendly haven: log piles, a wild corner, holes cut in every fence. This June I am opening it for a garden trail weekend and asking for donations instead of entry fees.

All donations go to Hedgerow Wildlife Hospital, who taught me how to make a garden safe for hedgehogs in the first place.
