Found a hedgehog?

A hedgehog out in daylight, staggering, or curled up in the open needs help. Here is what to do:

  1. Wear gloves or use a towel. Hedgehogs carry fleas and can bite when scared.
  2. Put it in a high-sided box with a towel, and a hot-water bottle wrapped in a cloth.
  3. Do not give milk or bread. A dish of water and meaty cat food is fine.
  4. Call us on 0113 496 0199 (demo number), or your nearest wildlife rescue.

Hedgehogs that are out at night and moving normally do not need rescuing. If in doubt, ring us.
